Frequently Asked Questions
What is homeschool coaching?
Coaching is a professional relationship focused on helping you become the parent and homeschool teacher/facilitator you want to be. Reasons parents seek coaching include:
- Identifying obstacles preventing them from having a triumphant homeschool.
- Overcoming a specific struggle such as homeschool planning, transferring responsibility to their children, or managing their days.
- Investing in their own growth as a home educator.
As your coach, I will walk with you through the struggles and challenges of homeschooling. We will work together to identify obstacles and create customized solutions that work for your family and your homeschool.
What will a coaching session look like?
We’ll start by taking a deep breath so we can focus our thoughts and emotions on the coaching session.
Then, I’ll ask questions to guide your thoughts as you think through and process what you want to talk about during our session. I may point out observations I notice or offer to help you brainstorm possible options.
We’ll close our session by identifying an action step to help you move forward in achieving your goal. Action steps could be time spent in reflection, homework exercises to explore an issue further, or specific action steps related to your goal.
Throughout the entire process, you are in charge. You get to choose what action steps you take. My role is simply to facilitate your growth process.
Who can attend the call?
I work one-on-one with the primary homeschooling parent or with couples. Any of your family members may be present on the call. However, your time and money are valuable, so I would encourage you to consider having at least one meeting without your children present so you can think and process without interruption or reservation.
What if I’m not sure coaching is for me?
Great question! I recommend you start with a free Inquiry Call. It’s 30 minutes for us to become familiar with each other and allows you to ask any questions about the coaching process.
What can I expect on an Inquiry Call?
We will meet online via telephone or Zoom. Inquiry Calls last 30 minutes.
We will spend most of our time hearing about your situation and goals. I’ll be listening to clarify what you say so that I will know how best to support you.
I’ll also share specifics of how the coaching relationship works. At the conclusion of our call, I will offer some possible next steps and answer any questions you have.
Where do we meet for coaching calls?
Coaching calls are held via telephone or Zoom. You’ll receive instructions on how to connect once your payment is completed.
Unfortunately, I am not able to offer in-person coaching at this time.
What are your qualifications?
I have homeschooled our two daughters since 2010. I am a Certified Professional Coach through the Life Breakthrough Academy. I am currently pursuing International Coaching Federation (ICF) Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification through the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI).
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the leading global organization for coaches and coaching. ICF is dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals.
How long will we work together?
Typically, I begin working with clients over a minimum of three sessions. If coaching proves a good fit for you, we can continue to work together for as long as the coaching relationship is beneficial. You can purchase a package of coaching sessions that best meets your needs, which we can discuss at the end of our three sessions.
All appointments must be booked within six months of the purchase date. Any remaining appointments not scheduled by six months from purchase will expire.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
My time is valuable, as is yours. Therefore, I do not offer refunds on coaching sessions.
Coaching sessions can be canceled or rescheduled up to 24 hours prior to our scheduled meeting. Sessions canceled within 24 hours of our call are subject to forfeiting your session fee.
If you are late for a session, you will lose that portion of the session time. If you are more than 10 minutes late to a session, the session will be canceled without a refund.
